Picture This is a book of stories: dreams and memory. Fictions prompted for the most part by random photographs that slide across the screen like fish along a shoal, almost within reach. Old photographs so compelling as to spark a thought, a sentence, an opening paragraph that might take the hook even as the author has only the most tenuous grip on the line.
There are truths and half-truths here, memory and memoir, all stirred together in a stew of morsels common to many of us, a stew that has not cooled.
Picture This is 342 pages, cloth bound, hardcover with slipcover. The stories are arranged in three sections: Fictions, Reflections (a selection of personal essays) and The Osborn Variations, a series of smaller fictional pieces inspired by the evocative, often haunting work of the painter, Kathy Osborn.
